“I invest in anything that Bernanke can’t destroy, including gold, canned beans, bottled water and flashlight batteries.” So says David Stockman, former budget director for Ronald Reagan. He’s talking about what Ben Bernanke, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve can’t destroy.

He goes on to say that, “The Democrats and Republicans are in a race to the fiscal bottom to see which one can bury our children and grandchildren deeper in debt.”

Stockman was known for his outspoken behavior during the Reagan administration, and he is just as outspoken today. What do his words mean for you and me? Here’s my translation:

  • Store food.
  • Store water.
  • Store emergency preparedness supplies.
  • Buy gold.

Gold is great, but you can’t eat it. Store food and water for your family first. If there are several people in your family, invest in one of these yearly food units
